Is RSI Discovery Month free?

Taking part costs nothing extra, and the Constellation Mk V Centaurus rental is free once you complete its contract. You still need an account with a game package to play.

Do I need to own a Constellation for RSI Discovery Month?

No. CIG says every pilot who completes the RSI Discovery Month: Rental Offer contract gets five days of rental access to the Constellation Mk V Centaurus and the Skylark. Owning a Constellation is not mentioned as a requirement.

Is RSI Discovery Month a Free Fly?

No. It is an in-game event for pilots who own a game package. There is no free-account window and no trial.

When does RSI Discovery Month end?

CIG had not published an end date as of October 9, 2026. The event began with Alpha 4.10.2 on that date. The feedback survey is open until October 31, which is not the event's end date.

Did Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.2 wipe progress?

No. The Alpha 4.10.2 release notes list Long Term Persistence as preserved, so earned aUEC and items carry over from Alpha 4.10.1.

RSI Discovery Month: Rewards & Free Centaurus Rental

TL;DR: RSI Discovery Month is an in-game event that arrived with Alpha 4.10.2 on October 9, 2026. You take RSI-themed contracts in mobiGlas, earn rewards, and can borrow a Constellation Mk V Centaurus for five days. It is not a Free Fly.

What RSI Discovery Month is

RSI is Roberts Space Industries, the in-game ship maker. Its Discovery Month celebrates the next-generation Constellation (a large multi-crew ship) and the new Constellation Mk V Centaurus. CIG says all pilots across Stanton, the starting star system, are invited to join. Source: Official RSI announcement.

The event is open to every pilot who owns a game package. It is an event inside the game, so you need a package to take part.

Not a Free Fly. A Free Fly is a short window when anyone can play without owning a package. Discovery Month has no free-account window and no trial. To find out when the whole game is free to try, see freeflyevent.com.

How to take part

You take part through contracts in mobiGlas, the in-game tablet that holds your missions and messages. The contracts use an RSI theme. CIG describes three kinds of work:

Defend fellow pilots from criminals.
Keep vital supplies moving across Stanton.
Collect industrial materials and lost cargo.

The reward tracks

Completing contracts earns progress on four reward tracks in mobiGlas. CIG lists the rewards as ship paints, flight blades, components, armor, and weapons. A flight blade is a swappable flight-control part for your ship.

We have not seen an official list of which reward sits on which track, or how many points each one costs. We will not guess. Check the tracks in mobiGlas for the current list.

How to get the free Centaurus rental

CIG calls this a way to experience RSI's vision of the future for free before release. The Centaurus is not yet sold as a flyable ship. So "free" means a time-limited rental, not a gift.

Some details are not stated officially:

When the five days start counting.
Whether you can earn the rental again.
When the rental offer itself ends.

Constellation Mk IV retirement window: ends January 27, 2027, according to the official RSI FAQ.
RSI Galaxy paint: the paint from the goodies pack is delivered with the ship itself at this year's Intergalactic Aerospace Expo (IAE, the yearly ship showcase), per the same FAQ.
