Star Citizen Medical Gameplay Guide (2026)

Learn how to heal other players, revive the incapacitated, and run a medical operation.

Updated: 5/15/2026

TL;DR: To revive an incapacitated player in Star Citizen, equip your Med Gun, switch it to revive mode (right-click), and hold fire on the downed player until the bar fills — you have a 5–15 minute bleed-out window. For yourself, use a MedPen for emergency healing or a Tier 1/2 medical bed for full recovery. Always carry at least two MedPens.

Medical Equipment

Tools

  • Med Gun (Medipens Applicator): Primary healing tool — equip and aim at another player to treat injuries. Has both a treatment and revive mode.
  • Medical Bed Tier 3: Basic healing and respawn point. Found on ships with any medical facility (Cutlass Red, Carrack, etc.).
  • Medical Bed Tier 2: Advanced healing including limb restoration. Found in clinics and on dedicated medical ships like the Apollo.
  • Medical Bed Tier 1: Full healing and revival. Found only in major hospitals (Clinic at Port Olisar level, Area18 Medical Center).

Consumables

  • MedPen: Quick self-heal for minor injuries. Temporary solution — stops the bleed, restores some health. Carry at least 2.
  • Hemozal: Treats blood loss specifically. Essential after gunshot wounds.
  • Demexatrine: Counters drug overdoses from using too many MedPens.
  • Roxaphen: Pain management — reduces status effect debuffs from injuries.

Damage and Injury States

  • Conscious: Player can move and act normally.
  • Injured: Reduced movement speed, possible visual distortion depending on injury type.
  • Incapacitated: Player is downed and unconscious — has a bleed-out timer. Can be revived with a Med Gun or by getting to a Tier 2+ medical bed before the timer expires.
  • Dead: Timer expired or massive trauma — must respawn at last set spawn point.

How to Revive an Incapacitated Player

  1. Equip your Med Gun (quick slot or inventory).
  2. Approach the downed player.
  3. Switch the Med Gun to revive mode (right-click or alternate fire).
  4. Aim at the incapacitated player and hold fire — the revive beam will work through the bleed-out process.
  5. Once the bar fills, the player regains consciousness at very low health — follow up with a heal beam or MedPen immediately.

Running a Medical Operation

  1. Outfit a ship with medical capability: the Cutlass Red is the most accessible starter medship; the Apollo and Endeavor Hope are dedicated platforms for serious operations.
  2. Monitor the emergency beacon system via MobiGlas → Missions Manager — injured players can broadcast a beacon for rescue.
  3. Coordinate extraction with the patient: they need to stay alive (incapacitated but not dead) until you arrive.
  4. Use triage priority when multiple patients are down — stabilize with Med Gun first, full treatment on the medical bed after extraction.
